The Dal Zotto group manufactures domestic heating stoves under the La Nordica and Extraflame brands. Its external yards near Vicenza are exposed to hard winters - repeated freeze-thaw cycles - and, like any large fresh slab, were at risk of plastic shrinkage cracking in the first hours after pouring.
Together with the design practice C+Partners, Dal Zotto opted for permanent protection rather than periodic maintenance: Evercrete Pavishield applied as a curing and protective treatment. By controlling early moisture loss it reduces shrinkage cracking, and once cured the treated surface resists frost damage without further intervention.

Project facts
- Location: Vicenza, Italy (2006)
- Designer: Studio C+Partners
- Contractor: Cosfara SpA (VI)
- Ecobeton solution: Curing and freeze-thaw protective treatment with Evercrete Pavishield
What this means for UK projects
External yards, loading bays and hardstandings in the UK suffer the same combination of shrinkage cracking and frost. Protect the slab once, at pour stage. See Evercrete Pavishield.
